The GLOBE has been declared world's largest container ship for 53 days till its off-loading of cargo. It will be docking in Britain for the first time of its maiden voyage.Owned by Shanghai-based China Shipping Container Lines and built in South Korea, the GLOBE is measured to be more than 400m (1,312ft) long, equivalent to 8 Olympic size swimming pools, 56.8m (186ft) wide and 73m (240ft) high. Its gross tonnage is 186,000, equivalent of 14,500 London buses according to Port of Felix Stowe where it arrived yestreday.
Laid end-to-end, the maximum number of container on board would stretch for 72miles, the distance between Felix Stowe & London/Birmingham & Manchester.
Its size is taped up to four football pitch in length with capacity cargo of 19,100. The GLOBE is no doubt the largest container ship of the moment.
