The Soundcity Urban Blast which took place on the 18th, it is one that won’t be forgotten in a hurry! We pulled all the stop, accomodated over 5000 soundcitizens and televised the biggest music concert to more than 40m+ viewers at home. We bring you 10 moments from the televised music concert, as it happened.
1. Mavins’ spectacular performance.
Although Don Jazzy failed to perform with his Mavins: The Mavin crew, Dr Sid, Tiwa Savage, D’prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’ja gave a good account of themselves but the boss himself, Don Jazzy failed to show up.
2. Wizkid stands for the fans.
While wowing the crowd, some of his fans gathered around the stage to have a closer view of their super star, but some bouncers (security guards) tried to stop them. Halfway through his performance, Wizkid paused and told the security men to stop beating his fans, “they got love for me” he said as the fans screamed for joy and hailed him on.’
3. Soundcity female VJs on stage
Pearl got on stage and did the 360 – by popular demand as Moet Abebe twerked to the monstrous hit song by DJ Snake and Lil Jon – ‘Turn down for What!’
4. Sean Tizzle and Dammy Krane’s gift
The Enterkraner gifted out all his accessories including his shoes to the crowd, he also let two fans join him on stage, and he even jumped into the crowd who held him up in the air.. Sean Tizzle gave out all he wore to stage, his gold chains, hat, sneakers and bracelet.
5. Cynthia Morgan’s performance and outfit
The starGyal’s near wardrobe malfunction but not letting it deter her superb performance. While performing at the Headies last weekend, she got everyone talking with her boobs, she repeated it all over again and peeps be praying for the boobs not to pop out of the bra.6. Styl Plus reunion!
It was awesome seeing the talented acts together again, the crowd went all wild when they stepped on stage. Their rendition of ‘Olufunmi’ and ‘Imagine That’ was tight!
7. Oritse Femi’s yet-to-be released track
Musical Taliban premiered a new -yet-to-be-released track on the night after ‘Double Wahala.’ The new track is titled ‘Igbeyawo.’
8. Tiwa Savage’s ‘shoki’ moves!
No words! Tiwa re-invented ‘Shoki!’9. The endless SoundcityTV selfies!
This was probably the event with the MOST selfies, from THE VJs sharing a selfie with the SpiceTV fam to VJ Adams’ two calls for selfie with the crowd and Do2dtun! Selfies saw no bounds!
10. It wasn’t just Nigeria represented!
Emmy Gee, South Africa based ‘Rands and Naira’ star climbed the stage with Ice Prince to perform the remix as Wizkid pulled the duo of R2Bees on stage for ‘Slow Down.’ Other Nigerian Artiste present were Ketchup, Skales, Vector, Sound Sultan and his Naija Ninjas, Cynthia Morgan, Seyi Shay, Reminisce, Mr. Songs, Wande Coal, Endia and Yung-L.
