NIGERIA'S ALAKIJA NOW THE WORLD'S RICHEST BLACK WOMAN



Nigeria’s Folorunsho Alakija is now the richest black woman in the world with an estimated fortune of seven point three billion dollars, the sixty-two year old mother of four unseated Winfrey Oprah who according to Forbes is worth two point nine billion dollars.
Alakija started her career as a secretary in a bank in the mid 1970s. She then studied fashion designing in London and returned to Nigeria to start label-supreme stitches. However her biggest break came from oil.
In 1993, her company famfa oil was awarded an oil prospecting license which later became oml-127, one of the country’s most prolific oil blocks.
