BEST NIGERIAN SONGS OF 2014

Part 1 (Singles Category)
These selections were solely based on the first come, first serve songs that enjoy massive air-play, download and were DJ’s favorites in the year 2014. In no particular order;
·                     Lil’KesH (Shoki) – The YBNL revelation hits was accompanied with the dance step that took the industry by storm taking about the “Shoki” dance that later became a trade mark on the dance floor both within and across the boundaries of our country.
·                     Yemi Alade (Johnny) – The special thing about the song “Johnny” was that every single and searching girl in other words of saying they are looking for a boyfriend rather say they are looking for their Johnny. It became so popular after the likes of Wizkid’s StarBoy “Caro” in 2013 that the singer had to release the French version for fans in every French speaking African countries and Abroad. No doubt, the song gave the singer the big break she had always wanted and earned her a place amongst top sensational female artistes like Omawumi, Waje, and Tiwa Savage.
·                     Skales (Shake Body) – After his exit from EME when people thought the artiste career was over, he took the industry by storm with the superb “Shake body” vibe that gets you to always want to shake your body every time you hear the song play. He gave hope to his fans that he was something to watch out for and not just a casualty as thought was, in the game.
·                     Davido (Aye) – Released February 14, 2014. The love song lyrically stroked everyone with the excitements of what true love is like, imagining a girl that doesn’t want your Ferrari, Versace, Money but love you for who you are not the worth of your person??? Yea right! The song paid off and Davido got several awards in its credit including the BET African artiste and Headies artiste of the year award.
·                     Olamide (Story for the gods) – Hmmm… it was thought that Olamide was going to lay low for a while after the 2013 hard work and profound success (but if we hear?!) “Story for the gods” swept the fans away off their feet with such flow that tend to wake up butterflies in the belly and the video? …On point! Olamide’s personality shows consistency with “Awon Goons Mi”, “Skeleba” alongside his “Street OT” album also released in 2014 and that is what it takes to be in the fore-fronts and no wonder his #OLIC was the best live concert in 2014 and his new signees Lil’Kesh and Viktoh are duos to reckon with in the industry this 2015.
·                     Reminisce (Te soju e) – His hit with Davido and the other one with Wizkid were thought to be his peak for the year but when he dropped “Tesoju e” his fans went crazy and the dance floor re-ignites with finesse and heat, times DJs turn up the hit in clubs and functions. I wonder why it came out at such time “Story for the gods” by Olamide was still enjoying massive air-wave because the two songs actually were sending the same message. That I guess will be a case for another day though.
·                     Wande Coal (Baby Hello) – Maleek Berry gave the song the perfect instrumental and Wande Coal as always kilt the beat (kilt: In TuBaba’s words at the project fame 2014). Wande is a versatile singer and his RnB “My Way” was also one of the top songs of 2014 but we give all his good works and credits of 2014 to “Baby Hello” for the tricks it sends to girls’ waist any time it’s being played especially in clubs.
·                     Orezi (You Garrit) – His own version of “Shoki” was amazing but just so we don’t engage ourselves in any argument; “You Garrit” definitely was his best in 2014. Although, his being like in the shadows like forever but the song finally brought him to the surface last year. The lyrical content in the song was fit and perfect or what more can I say, his bank accounts got heavier and his number of ladies no doubt hit platinum too (I didn’t category say anything, so please, don’t quote me wrong).
·                     Kiss Daniels (Woju) – Just when everyone had thought there is no place for any new up and coming artiste at the moment cause the competition was much too stiff for anyone to take the attention away from the top ones in the game but Kiss Daniel impacted surprisingly from no where and shaped the face of good music with a soft melodious tumbler that the audience just couldn’t resist and the shocker is that his music is even a blockbuster in the north, seriously, can you believe that? Awesome, Bro!
·                     Slyde (Banana) – The intro to this song was the best in 2014, no doubt and the song itself was a super club banger such that if you don’t hear DJs play it in the club, you did call the DJ, a learner who doesn’t know his/her job well.
Good one Slyde, but hope you don’t stop there in the likes of Deebee “Collabo”, Slim Joe “Yanyan” and Bigiano “Shayo”.
