Yesterday at the grand finale of the All-Nigerian University Debate Championship, the host university, University of Lagos emerged the winner of the competition in which 16 Universities and 56 teams were represented.
University of Calabar was the first-runner up followed by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and Nnamdi Azikwe University.
The debate, although the second of its kind is said to be of a British standard and designed this time to further build the debaters to rank side by side with world standards.
There were lot of complains as regards the organizing team as well as the integrity of the adjudicators who were all not very experienced about the ethics of the competition.
All participants will be traveling back to their respective universities today while the winning team will represent the country come the West Africa championship later in the year.
