US MILITARY BASE TWITTER ACCOUNT HACKED

The twitter and YouTube accounts of the US military command were suspended for a few hours after being hacked by a group claiming to be Islamic states.
Centcom TwitterOn the twitter Centcom’s feed it tweeted “American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back” and another tweeted “In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate continues it’s CyberJihad”.
The tweets were said signed by ISIS, another name for the Islamic states. Some internal military documents also appeared on the Centcom twitter feed.
Centcom have however said it was “cyber vandalism” and not a serious data breach in a statement released at the time of the news and that there was no operational impact and no classified information was posted.
Embarrassingly, it was also reported that the hack happened as President Barack Obama was giving a speech on cyber-security when reflecting on major breaches like the recent hack of Sony Pictures. He however promised that the vulnerabilities will be put on check.
